Roller Shutters

  • The most common Industrial Door with high levels of security.
  • The door is fixed at high level, and the curtain rolls around a barrel with vertical opening and closing.
  • Available in single or double skin, Industrial Roller Shutters are ideal for insulating large industrial openings against heat, noise and energy loss.
  • U value (lath) up to 0.733 W/m2K, wind load Class 5.
  • Variable thickness to suit your security level, ensuring optimum protection from theft and vandalism.
  • Designed to withstand the rigors of high usage.

Various designs and finishes to suit aesthetic requirements.

Curain

Each individual lath is made up of galvanized steel sectons as standard. For Industrial Roller Shutters these sections are available in three thicknesses to suit the size of opening and required security level.

Operation

We offer a varied range of chain or 3 phase electric operations for Industrial Roller Shutter Doors. Safety equipment and featres are also incorporated to protect personnel and vehicles against accidents, and prevent needless damage to your door.

Operating Motor

For all electrically operated Industrial Roller Shutter Doors, a 1 phase or 3 phase motor is positioned at the top of the door which powers all of the mechanical components. An adequate power supply will be required in this general area.

Roller Assembly

The roller assembly is a steel tube fitted at both sides of the end plate which is used to hold the shutter curtain. The curtain rolls around the roller assembly when in use.

Guide Channels

The “U” shaped vertical sections are located at the sides of the door allowing the curtain to travel up and down smoothly and securely.

Safety Brake

The safety brake prevents the door from dropping in the vent of motor failure where pedestrian or vehicle access is required.

Canopy

A canopy surrounds the components of the Industrial Roller Shutter Door at high level to prevent entrapment and improve aesthetics.

Sealing system

Bottom rail seals are available that incorporate safety sensors. Bush strip can also be placed into the vertical guides to minimise heat loss.

Safety Factor

In the event of an electrically operated door meeting an obstruction when operating, sensors built within the bottom rail system are activated to disengage the door movement. Further safety devices are available dependent on requirements and operational cirumstances.

Finish

Industrial Roller Shutter Doors are typically finished with galvanised steel as standard, or you can choose from a range of 75 standard Powder Coat colours. This option gives the door a strong yet aesthetically attractive finish.

Specification of any BS or RAL colour is available, as are Plastisol (plastic coated).

Thinking of installing Industrial Roller Shutter Doors?

Here are the benefits:

Security

Roller shutters are incredibly secure from both pedestrian and vehicular access. In fact, this is one of the main reasons why many businesses choose to install Roller shutters in their industrial premises.

Installing roller shutters into the exterior access points of your premises not only improves the security of your building but also acts as a deterrent to potential thieves looking to gain easy access.

Built from mild steel, industrial roller security shutters will provide an additional layer of security and protection for your premises and it’s contents.

Also, if your premises is likely to be vacant for longer periods of time (such as Christmas or company shutdowns) steel roller shutters provide a greater degree of protection for vacant buildings.

Deterrent

The added security benefits of a roller shutter door also have the benefit of acting as a deterrent to forced-entry attempts to your premises.

Roller shutters send a clear message that the building is secure and protected and can prevent break-in attempts before they even happen.

Shutter doors can also deter vandalism as many doors can be coated to make them graffiti proof.

Safety

Hinged doors can be unpredictable, especially when used on external entrances to your industrial buildings. Roller shutter does are impervious to wind and only move up and down within their fixings.

Standard hinged doors often end up propped open with bricks or whatever is found to hand – this can mean than on windy days they are prone to slamming shut (potentially damaging the door and injuring members of staff).

Weather Protection

With extreme weather conditions on the increase, roller shutter doors provide more protection from the elements than standard doors.

Whether its protection from wind or rain, a properly installed and maintained shutter door helps keep the heat and rain out and helps to keep the ambient temperature inside your premises constant.

Fire Protection

Industrial Roller shutter doors provide much better protection against the spread of fire than traditional wooden doors. In the unlikely event of a fire, shutter doors can contain a fire and prevent it from spreading internally or externally to other buildings.

Note that the level of protection provided by a roller shutter door will vary based upon its construction – always check with your industrial door supplier first if you need specific fire retardant doors.

Better use of space

Unlike traditional doors that open outwards or inwards, roller shutter does open vertically which helps to increase the usable space of your premises. Loading and unloading also become easier as vehicles can be parked right up against the doors, allowing goods to be loaded more efficiently – saving you time and money.

You’ll also find that there’s no need to leave large clear areas of space around a roller shutter door. This means that you can store items closer to it within the building.

Privacy

If your business operations require some degree of privacy, roller shutter doors can provide an additional level of privacy for your business – both in terms of preventing observation of activities inside your premises, and soundproofing to prevent noise spreading outside your building.

Ease of use

Modern roller shutter doors are quick and easy to use, either manually via a chain system or power-operated.

Opening and closing the shutter doors is straightforward and as long as they are properly serviced and maintained, the opening mechanism is quick and easy.

Motorised roller shutter doors also have the option of being operated remotely via a hand-held transmitter instead of a standard key or rocker switch.

Value for money

Although shutter doors may require slightly more investment in the short-term, a regularly serviced door will last for years to come. When you add together the benefits of these doors over their traditional counterparts, the investment makes good sense.

Industrial Overhead Sectional Doors

Access

Overhead door installations lift up and out of the way completely, leaving a large aperture that provides enormous accessibility. It’s ideal if you need space for loading and unloading materials. It’s big enough to accommodate a vehicle if you need to store it safely. It also allows you to access the premises with large, heavy equipment, including fork trucks, tractors, plows, and more.

Security

Because they are built to withstand industrial punishment, they also offer a great deal of security. If you store valuable inventory, equipment, or finished goods, a commercial overhead door seals fast, locks tight, and provides the strength and soundness you require.

Durability

Overhead doors are made from a variety of durable materials, so they withstand the rigors of a commercial or industrial environment. They are built to stand up to bumps, scrapes, spills, pollution, and other hazards and will last for years or decades with little care or maintenance.

Versatility

A commercial overhead door offers versatility. It lets you transition smoothly between indoor and outdoor spaces. For instance, a large door leading onto a covered patio opens the indoor space to the fresh air and sunlight while still connecting patio diners to the indoor dining room. The result is to create in the minds of customers a feeling of a much larger, more versatile space.

Bi-folding industrial doorsets

  • Highly insulated Industrial Door with minimal maintenance required
  • Ideal for applications that require high levels of thermal protection and security
  • U value (panel) up to 0.5 W/m2K, wind load Class 5
  • Virtually maintenance free, this is the sturdiest and most resilient Industrial Door system.
  • Variable glazing size and composition to suit aesthetic requirements

Components:

Panels

Double skinned, PU-foamed steel sections, with an interlocking hinged joint offering the best weather protection.

Operation

Industrial Doors are available with either manual or electrical operation.
All electrically operated Doors feature automatic locking. Manual Doors are operated and locked as standard on the inside using a padlock through a chain Keep or slide bolt.

Operating Motor

The motor is simple, reliable and extremely durable, which dramatically reduces maintenance costs. Two versions of motor unit, with closing rates of 8 or 12-seconds, reduce heat loss by matching the motor speed with your access speed, be it vehicle or pedestrian.

Safety Factor

In the event of an electrically operated door meeting an obstruction when operating, sensors built within the sealing system are activated to disengage the door movement. Further safety devices are available dependent on requirements and operational circumstances.

Sealing system

Certain Industrial Doors are equipped with a sealing system specifically designed to withstand ageing, consisting of four corner-sealing joints placed around the door. This rubber sealing system gives our doors the market’s best tested insulation and tightness values.

Windows

Windows can be placed in variable combinations and sizes in selected Industrial Door panels. Standard windows have aluminium frames with the option of Powder Coating. All window frames are constructed with an open thermal bridge and toughened insulated double glazed glass as standard.

Benefits

What are the benefits of installing industrial doors?

  • Thermal protection
  • High-level security
  • Low maintenance
  • Suitable for high usage
  • Space-saving
  • Variable operation, access and controls
  • Variable aesthetic design
  • Fully CE compliant

Key benefits of a Door Maintenance package:

  • Increased lifespan of your door product
  • Reduced risk of breakdowns
  • Compliance with Health and Safety regulations
  • Extended Warranties through regular servicing

Maintenance

Ongoing maintenance of your Industrial Door is vital to maintain their working performance and ensuring the greatest possible longevity. A regular maintenance contract can extend the lifespan of your Security product whilst reducing the risk of issues developing into breakdowns. It’s surprising how an ignored minor damage can advance into long lasting deterioration, resulting in costly repairs and disruption of your daily business routine.

According to the Regulation 5 of the Workplace (Health Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, powered doors must be “checked at regular intervals, as appropriate, by inspection, testing, adjustment, lubrication, repair and cleaning.”

The current Health and Safety Act 1974 Regulation 18 stipulates that all equipment should be:

  • Suitable for its intended purpose
  • Safe to use
  • In good repair
  • Subject to a monitor programme of maintenance

All doors should be serviced regularly to correspond with approved construction schemes and must comply with new European regulations. Failure to do so can result in prosecution and can invalidate your insurance and warranty.
